A beginning...
I guess I should start this blog with some form of introduction. I have been a wow player on and off for a few years now, like many others. I began playing back somewhere around August of 2004. I started like many as a very inexperienced player, stereotypically choosing to play a hunter as my first character and for a long time being one of those hunters that make other hunters embarrassed of their class.
I stumbled across addons via being introduced to the cosmos suite and was immediately in love. As dirty as cosmos makes me feel these days, I guess I have to thank it for introducing me to the wonderful world of addons. I've strayed in addon philosophy from full experimenting with full overhauls of Blizzard's default UI, to attempts at extreme minimalism focusing on functionality while retaining blizzards original feel for the UI. My most current style is a balance between a need for more information than the default UI gives and attempting to stay as close to the default UI as my needs allow.
Theorycrafting has also been a longtime love of mine. In the early days, raiding on a Night Elf hunter, with no understanding that a feral druid or shadow priest didn't make a good healer, I still could pump out enough DPS to stay in the top 2-3. I love number crunching, min-maxing, and knowing that I'm providing the most my class has to offer in whatever circumstance. I think this part most drew me to towards multiboxing. There is nothing I have enjoyed more in the game than putting together a well balanced raid or party group. And more than that, seeing that group fulfill it's intended purpose.
However, that part of the game was always a toss of the dice or a flip of the coin. Relying on guild members or friends to be online, or testing my luck with a pug group. It was always out of my control to construct that perfect instance group, having to rely on other people.
So now my eye has fallen on multiboxing. I've long envisioned leaving the LFG channel behind, and no longer relying on other people's competence and schedules and now that vision seems like a reality.
My long time in-game and recently out-of-game friend Llnith and I are taking up the multiboxing torch here in a few weeks once we've hammered out our hardware and software setups. We hope to document as many of our struggles and successes in what will predominately be a PVE centered multiboxing experiment. Stay tuned....
Next up, some brief details on hardware choices
